Dengue control drives launched in Mexico's State of Mexico and Argentina's Resistencia

The State of Mexico announced a statewide dengue and chikungunya prevention campaign that will run from May to October. Health Secretary Celina Castañeda de la Lanza opened the initiative in Tonatico, emphasizing community participation and coordinated action with municipal health jurisdictions. Activities include destroying mosquito‑breeding containers, larval control in 22,825 homes, residual spraying in 1,463 houses and spatial nebulization in 357 blocks, along with health‑fair services such as vaccinations and screening.

In Resistencia, Argentina, the provincial Ministry of Health scheduled a four‑day vector‑elimination operation from 12 to 15 May in the Villa Palermo and Villa Libertad neighborhoods. Teams will conduct door‑to‑door inspections between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., removing mosquito breeding sites, recording data and urging residents to cooperate with the preventive effort.
