Dengue outbreak reported in Sinaloa and Chihuahua border region

Health authorities in Sinaloa and Chihuahua have confirmed a dengue outbreak in the indigenous community of Jicapore, located in the mountainous region of Guadalupe y Calvo, near the border of both states. The outbreak has resulted in at least 35 illnesses and the deaths of two adolescents, aged 15 and 17.

Medical brigades from both states have been deployed to provide humanitarian aid, medical assessments, and treatment. Officials from the Sinaloa Secretariat of Welfare and Sustainable Development (Sebides) and the Commission for the Attention to Indigenous Communities of Sinaloa (Copacis) are working alongside Chihuahua health teams to monitor the situation.

Epidemiology and vector control teams are conducting residual spraying in homes, distributing larvicide, and collecting blood samples to identify the specific circulating strain. Authorities have stated that medical attention will remain continuous in the community until all affected individuals have fully recovered.
