Denis Sassou Nguesso University honors three former African heads of state

Three former African heads of state—Macky Sall of Senegal, Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, and Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger—were awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Denis Sassou Nguesso University in Brazzaville, Congo.

The ceremony, held in the presence of Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, recognized the leaders for their political and institutional contributions to their respective nations and the broader African continent. During his address, Umaro Sissoco Embaló expressed gratitude, framing the honor as a tribute to the resilience of the people of Guinea-Bissau, and urged leaders to invest heavily in youth and education.

Macky Sall noted that the distinction recognized his contributions to the development of the Senegalese educational system. The event highlights the ongoing diplomatic activity of these former leaders, including Sall's continued presence on the international stage.
