Denise Brown highlights domestic violence signs in new memoir

Denise Brown, the sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson, is using her experiences to advocate for domestic violence awareness. Following the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, Denise Brown discovered her sister's journals, which revealed grim details of abuse that had previously been misunderstood.

During the 1995 criminal trial of O. J. Simpson, Denise Brown testified about witnessing verbal abuse and physical injuries, including photos of bruises on Nicole's face, neck, and arms. While Simpson was acquitted in the criminal trial, he was later found liable for the deaths in a 1997 civil trial.

Brown noted that at the time of the initial incidents, she did not fully understand the cycle of domestic violence. The discovery of the diaries prompted her to seek professional guidance from a women’s shelter, which ultimately catalyzed her ongoing work in domestic violence education and advocacy.
