Denise Cosco, daughter of anti-mafia witness Lea Garofalo, dies in Rome

Denise Cosco, the 35-year-old daughter of anti-mafia activist Lea Garofalo, has died in Rome. Her death occurred at the same age her mother was when she was murdered by the 'Ndrangheta mafia syndicate in 2009.

Lea Garofalo was a justice witness who cooperated with authorities to protect her daughter from organized crime. She was kidnapped, murdered, and her remains were discovered years later. Denise subsequently testified against her own father, Carlo Cosco, and a former partner, both of whom received life sentences.

Investigators are currently examining the circumstances of Denise's death following a fall from her apartment. While the incident is being treated as a potential suicide, authorities are also investigating whether she was subject to pressure or threats that may have contributed to the event. No suicide note was found, and police are analyzing her electronic devices to clarify her final days.
