Denizli almond production faces significant decline

Almond production in Denizli, Turkey, has seen a significant decline. During a recent Almond Harvest and Field Day event in the Acıpayam district, local officials and producers met to discuss ways to reverse this trend.

Data indicates that Denizli's almond production fell from 6,068 tons in 2020 to 4,322 tons in 2024, dropping further to 1,872 tons in 2025. This follows a broader national trend in Turkey, where production decreased from 200,000 tons in 2024 to 126,372 tons in 2025.

İbrahim Tefenlili, Chairman of the Denizli Commodity Exchange, emphasized that increasing production must be accompanied by improvements in quality, efficiency, and marketing power. He cited the success of the Walnut Production Area Development Project, which distributed 622,000 certified Chandler walnut saplings to farmers across 18 districts, as a model for revitalizing the almond sector.
