Denizli authorities arrest seven suspects in 4.4 million TL fraud scheme
Seven suspects were apprehended by gendarmerie teams in Denizli, Turkey, following a coordinated operation targeting elderly citizens. The group allegedly posed as soldiers, police officers, and prosecutors to defraud victims of approximately 4.4 million TL.
According to investigators, the suspects used a tactic involving false claims that a murder and theft had occurred in the victims' districts, and that their identification had been found at the crime scene. By creating panic, the suspects convinced elderly residents in the Bekilli, Çardak, and Buldan districts to hand over jewelry and cash to individuals they claimed were gendarmerie personnel.
The Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) conducted technical and physical surveillance, eventually catching the suspects red-handed while they were attempting to flee with stolen assets. All seized cash and jewelry were successfully returned to the victims.
