Denizli Chamber of Commerce targets 5-star thermal tourism growth
Uğur Erdoğan, President of the Denizli Chamber of Commerce (DTO), has outlined a strategic vision for the future of the Denizli economy, emphasizing sustainable development and economic diversification. While noting the city's existing strengths in textiles, marble, and tourism, Erdoğan highlighted the need to leverage natural resources, production infrastructure, and human capital to create higher added value.
Key priority areas identified include thermal health tourism and agriculture-based industry integrated with geothermal energy. To enhance the economic impact of the region's world-renowned thermal resources, such as those in Pamukkale and Karahayıt, Erdoğan proposed a shift from day-trip tourism toward high-standard, 5-star thermal health and accommodation facilities. This initiative aims to encourage longer stays and increase economic returns.
The South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) has prepared a preliminary feasibility study for these 5-star thermal health and accommodation facilities, which will serve as a roadmap for the region's development.
