Denizli implements project to release 1.386 million carp into inland waters

As part of an ongoing initiative to revitalize inland water resources, 1,386,000 juvenile carp have been released into ponds across the Denizli province in Turkey. Coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the project targets 32 ponds across nine districts.

In the Çameli district, approximately 100,000 juvenile carp were released into the Yeni Mahalle Pond. Local officials noted that Çameli is a significant hub for the industry, hosting 90% of the province's licensed fish farms. The project utilizes juvenile fish sourced from the Mediterranean Fisheries Research Institute.

To ensure the healthy development of the fish, authorities have implemented fishing bans in the targeted ponds for at least one year. Once the fish reach maturity, the ponds will be opened for recreational fishing. General fishing regulations also remain in effect, including a seasonal ban from March 1 to June 1 and a minimum carp size limit of 40 centimeters.
