Denizli implements unmanned surveillance to monitor forest fires

The Denizli Regional Directorate of Forestry is utilizing a combination of human personnel and advanced technology to monitor forest and agricultural lands for fire risks. A network of 25 observation towers operates 24/7 to provide early detection, particularly during the high-risk summer months.

A key component of this effort is the unmanned surveillance system installed at the Tavas Çakıroluk Observation Tower. Equipped with thermal and optical cameras, this system monitors an area with a radius of approximately 40 kilometers. This technology allows for the real-time tracking of roughly 500,000 decares of forest land and 300,000 decares of agricultural land, totaling about 800,000 decares of territory.

When the system detects smoke, temperature changes, or other fire indicators, data is transmitted immediately to the Fire Operations Center. Personnel at the towers also play a critical role by evaluating the color, shape, and density of smoke, as well as wind direction and terrain, to determine the type of fire—whether it be forest, land, or residential—to ensure rapid and coordinated response from intervention teams.
