Denizli Lisesi celebrates 152 years of educational history

Denizli Lisesi, one of the oldest educational institutions in Denizli, Turkey, is marking 152 years of operation. Established in 1874 as Rüştiye Mektebi, the school has undergone various name changes, including Liva İdadisi and Sultani Mektebi, before officially becoming Denizli Lisesi in 1932.

The school's historic building, construction of which began in 1915, was delayed by the War of Independence and economic constraints. It eventually began hosting students in its current building during the 1926-1927 academic year. Today, the institution serves approximately 450 students with a staff of 68 teachers and 3 administrators.

The school also preserves its historical significance through a museum. Two classrooms visited by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during his 1931 visit have been converted into museums. Additionally, the Republic Education Museum, registered in 1999, displays historical educational tools and artifacts from various periods of Turkish social life.
