Denizli residents protest nighttime drifting in Sümer neighborhood
Residents of the Sümer neighborhood in the Merkezefendi district of Denizli are protesting ongoing nighttime drifting activities near the 3rd Industrial Site. According to local claims, a group of approximately 15 to 20 people using Tofaş vehicles and motorcycles engages in drifting and plays loud music throughout the night.
Citizens report that the continuous noise from engines, tires, and music prevents children and the elderly from sleeping. Despite multiple reports made to the 112 Emergency Call Center, residents state that the issue remains unresolved and their quality of life has significantly declined.
While authorities have previously taken action—including fining a driver 7,369 TL for drifting and driving under the influence, confiscating a license, and banning a vehicle for two months—locals argue that these measures have failed to prevent the recurring disturbances. Residents are calling for permanent solutions and more effective enforcement to restore peace to the neighborhood.
