Denizli's Kent Lokantası model inspires UK restaurant project

The Kent Lokantası (City Restaurant) model, implemented by municipalities in Denizli, Turkey, is gaining international attention. The project, designed to provide hygienic, high-quality, and affordable meals to students, retirees, and low-income families, is being studied as a potential model for a public restaurant project in Nottingham, United Kingdom.

Dr. Marsha Smith, a researcher from the University of Nottingham and director of the DISHED platform, visited Denizli to examine the operational mechanisms and management strategies of the local restaurants. The visit included discussions with Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu regarding how the model can be adapted to the conditions in Nottingham.

In the Efeler district, Mayor Anıl Yetişkin has expanded the service to meet growing demand. The Kent Lokantası in Efeler now operates six days a week, including Saturdays, to ensure broader access to nutritious and balanced meals for the community.
