Denmark: 45% of citizens willing to retrain for war-related humanitarian roles

A new Voxmeter survey conducted for Folkekirkens Nødhjælp reveals that 45 percent of Danes would be willing to leave their current jobs to undergo retraining for humanitarian tasks if Denmark faced serious pressure from war.

Respondents indicated they would likely pursue roles in areas such as emergency relief, logistics, or mine clearance. Jonas Nøddekær, Secretary General of Folkekirkens Nødhjælp, noted that this willingness to take responsibility for the community is an uplifting sign, emphasizing that civil society is a crucial resource during wartime.

The survey draws parallels to experiences in Ukraine following the 2022 invasion, where civilians transitioned from roles like hairdressers or accountants to essential tasks like mine clearance to support community survival and reconstruction.
