Denmark advances digital health governance and cybersecurity
Denmark is undergoing significant shifts in digital governance and security. A major health reform is centralizing digital management through the creation of Digital Sundhed Danmark. Directors Thomas Fredenslund and Klaus Larsen oversee this new national authority, which grants the Health Minister increased power over IT decisions across regions and municipalities. The organization aims to manage digital health technologies, including telemedicine and AI integration, while navigating the complexities of electronic patient records.
Simultaneously, Denmark is addressing heightened digital and hybrid threats to its critical infrastructure. The Cyber Alliance, supported by Finans Danmark, is facilitating cooperation between sectors such as energy, telecommunications, finance, and transport. Experts emphasize that because these sectors are deeply interconnected, a cyberattack on one can impact the entire society. Strengthening national resilience requires cross-sector coordination, shared situational awareness, and increased investment in protecting essential services against geopolitical and digital risks.
