Denmark allocates 269.9 million DKK for bicycle path projects

The Danish Ministry of Transport has allocated 269.9 million DKK from the bicycle fund to support 34 infrastructure projects across the country. The funding is divided between municipal projects, totaling 132.7 million DKK, and state-led projects managed by the Danish Road Directorate, totaling 137.2 million DKK.

A primary focus of this year's allocation is improving safety for school children, with 25 of the 29 selected municipal projects specifically targeting school cycling routes. In the TV2 East region, the municipalities of Holbæk, Lolland, Ringsted, and Stevns will receive a combined 16 million DKK for new paths.

Additionally, the funding circle behind Infrastructure Plan 2035 has decided to expand the fund by 1.5 million DKK to support smaller or economically strained municipalities. This extra support is intended to assist with innovation, project preparation, and the development of decision-making frameworks.
