Denmark Ambassador visits Mirzapur for water scheme handover

Danish Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, visited Duhaua village in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh to participate in the ‘Jal Arpan’ ceremony. The event, held under the Jal Jeevan Mission, marked the formal handover of a rural water supply scheme to the local community.

During the visit, the Ambassador inspected a Water Treatment Plant in Naraina Kala village, which utilizes a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This plant is part of a Multi-Village Scheme sourced from the Belan River and provides clean drinking water to 258 villages, including Amravati, Bhawanipur, and Duhaua, which received UNOPS intervention.

The delegation, which included local district officials and the Country Manager of UNOPS India, interacted with community members and trained Jal Sakhis. The visit concluded with the ‘Jal Bandhan’ activity, symbolizing the community’s commitment to water conservation.
