Denmark braces for hot, stormy Friday as DMI issues severe weather warnings

Denmark's meteorological service, DMI, warned that Friday will be unusually warm with temperatures exceeding 28 °C, marking the last day of a heat wave. The agency also issued a category‑1 alert for "violent weather" that includes thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and strong wind gusts across the country except Bornholm. Meteorologist Henning Gisselø said local rainfalls could reach 15‑25 mm within half an hour, with possible sky‑bruises of up to 20 mm on Bornholm Saturday night and 5‑10 mm elsewhere over the weekend.

A cooler air mass from the west and northwest will arrive after Friday, bringing temperatures of about 20‑23 °C on Saturday and around 20 °C on Sunday, along with breezier conditions. The heat‑wave warning will end on Friday evening as the weather shifts to a more unsettled pattern for the coming week.
