Denmark business trends show rising investment and projected bankruptcies

New data from Finans Danmark indicates a growing interest in securities among Danish citizens. By the end of 2024, the number of active adult investors in the country reached nearly 1.5 million, an increase of 77,000 from the previous year. Regional investment rates vary, with Nordsjælland at 37 percent, Copenhagen at 34 percent, and East Jutland at 32 percent.

In contrast, Atradius forecasts a potential rise in corporate bankruptcies. While Danish companies have performed remarkably well recently, September saw an increase in seasonally adjusted bankruptcies among active firms. Atradius predicts that Denmark will be one of only two European markets where bankruptcies are expected to rise in 2027, with a projected 7 percent increase next year as the market moves away from recent lows.
