Denmark debates digital sovereignty and funding allocation
Discussions regarding European and Danish digital sovereignty have intensified, driven by concerns over technological independence and the influence of major tech figures like Elon Musk. The return of Donald Trump to the White House has further highlighted the need for Europe to secure its own digital and defense capabilities.
In Denmark, 80 million kroner have been allocated to a four-year action plan for digital sovereignty, providing 20 million kroner annually. However, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science has yet to document how these funds will be best utilized, despite the availability of the budget. The GTS association has proposed three different approaches to address this implementation gap.
