Denmark Declares Orange Heat‑Wave Alert as Temperatures Surge to 35°C

Denmark’s meteorological institute announced an orange heat‑wave alert covering almost the entire country, excluding three islands, from Friday through Sunday night. Temperatures on Friday ranged from 23 °C to 28 °C and are expected to climb to as high as 35 °C, accompanied by very humid air that will increase the perceived heat. The warning advises the public, including attendees at the Copenhell metal festival in Copenhagen, to stay well‑hydrated.

In neighbouring Sweden, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute issued a yellow alert for the southern region on Friday and Saturday, with daytime temperatures projected to reach at least 30 °C. Authorities have warned vulnerable groups to take extra precautions.

Both alerts represent the second level of weather warnings and are in effect until the weekend’s end.
