Denmark braces for heavy rain, thunderstorms and heat wave

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) issued new warnings for local skybursts, intense thunderstorms and hail across Denmark. The alerts, effective from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening, cover Sjælland and Lolland‑Falster on Sunday and expand to most of the country on Monday, excluding the northern and western parts of Jutland. DMI expects the strongest downpours to bring 15‑25 mm of rain within about 30 minutes, possibly accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts.

Specific forecasts highlight the risk of skybursts in Aalborg and Karrebæksminde, where hail was reported and rainfall measurements approached 28 mm in 30 minutes. A heat wave is also expected to affect East Jutland, with temperatures in Aarhus rising above 30 °C and daily averages around 28 °C from Wednesday to Friday. Residents are advised to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions and to take precautions against heavy rain, thunderstorms and high temperatures.
