Denmark focuses on emergency preparedness and crisis resilience
Authorities in Denmark are encouraging citizens to maintain a 72-hour emergency supply of food, water, and medicine to ensure self-sufficiency during critical infrastructure failures. While neighboring countries like Norway, Sweden, and Germany recommend a one-week stockpile, only about one-third of Danes currently possess the recommended emergency supplies.
In North Jutland, emergency services emphasize that critical systems, including the 112 emergency number and ambulance services, are prepared to function during power outages, cyberattacks, or supply disruptions. The COVID-19 pandemic served as a turning point for the healthcare sector, prompting increased focus on managing scenarios that fall outside of normal daily operations. Although specific contingency plans remain confidential for security reasons, regional health authorities state they are actively working to mitigate risks related to electricity, water, heating, and digital infrastructure.
