Denmark gender pay gap decreases for first time since 2022

The gender pay gap in Denmark decreased last year for the first time since 2022, according to new data from Danmarks Statistik.

In 2025, women earned an average of 12.3 percent less than men, a reduction from the 12.9 percent gap recorded the previous year. Mads Moberg Reumert, chief economist at the pension company Danica, noted the trend is positive, highlighting that wage equality is essential not only for current labor market parity but also for economic equality during retirement.

Since 2004, when the gap stood at 16 percent, the difference has fluctuated, reaching a low of 11.9 percent in 2020.
