Denmark hosts Veteran Match sports tributes for former military personnel
For the seventh consecutive year, the Danish Sports Confederation (DIF) is organizing 'Veteran Match' to honor Denmark's former military personnel and their families. Over the course of a month, 57 league matches across football, handball, and ice hockey will serve as venues for this tribute.
During these events, veterans and their relatives are invited as guests of honor with free admission to the stands. The ceremonies include standing ovations, banners, and speeches to recognize those who served on international missions for Denmark. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving DIF, professional clubs, municipalities, and local veteran organizations.
Frans Hammer, Vice President of DIF, noted that the events aim to ensure the country never forgets the sacrifices made by these individuals. The tribute spans major leagues, including the 3F Superliga and Betinia LIGA in football, as well as top-tier handball and ice hockey competitions.
