Denmark labor trends: Remote work stabilizes at 40%
Data from Danmarks Statistik indicates that remote work has become a stable fixture in the Danish labor market. Since the beginning of 2024, the proportion of employees working from home has remained steady at approximately 40 percent, a significant increase from the sub-30 percent levels recorded in 2019.
Remote work trends vary significantly by profession. Management roles show the highest frequency, with 74 percent working from home, and 68 percent of highly skilled knowledge workers also utilizing remote options. In contrast, only 9 percent of manual laborers and 12 percent of service and sales employees work from home.
Separately, business confidence among Denmark’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has reached a two-year high. According to SMVdanmark, the business confidence index rose to 99.9 in August, nearing the historical average. The retail sector has seen notable improvements, with confidence in that specific SME segment rising from 98.7 to 111.0 over the past two years.
