Denmark launches new development and investment strategies
The Danish government is implementing a new strategic approach to development cooperation by strengthening ties between civil society and the private sector. The government has established 19 new Strategic Partnerships with Danish civil society organizations, including consortia involving business organizations such as Dansk Industri, Dansk Erhverv, and Landbrug & Fødevarer. These partnerships aim to deliver jobs, vocational training, and humanitarian aid, with a total annual framework of 1.5 billion DKK planned for the 2027-2031 period.
To support this shift toward economic diplomacy, the government is also allocating 850 million DKK over the next four years toward five business instruments. These instruments are designed to facilitate Danish corporate investment in developing economies across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Ukraine. The initiative seeks to mitigate risks for companies entering growing markets while promoting sustainable development and strengthening the bottom lines of Danish businesses.
