Denmark may order Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft

Denmark may consider ordering four or five Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft. While the Danish military previously declined to acquire these planes due to concerns over excessive capabilities and high maintenance costs, new developments suggest a potential shift in interest.

During the Homeland Security Conference in Copenhagen, Airbus Defence & Space and CenSec, a Danish defense innovation hub, formalized a partnership. This collaboration aims to integrate Danish industrial and scientific expertise into key Airbus programs, specifically the A400M and the A330 MRTT.

Denmark is already involved in the NATO Multinational MRTT Fleet initiative, which shares the costs of A330 MRTT tanker aircraft. However, the country has not yet joined the specific A400M initiative launched by seven other NATO members.
