Denmark men's volleyball secures historic World Championship berth

The Danish men's national volleyball team has been eliminated from the European Championship following a 0-3 defeat in the round of 16 against hosts Italy. Despite the loss, with set scores of 22-25, 16-25, and 11-25, the tournament is considered a major success for the program. Denmark reached the knockout stage for only the second time in its history, following impressive group stage victories over Estonia and the Netherlands.

Crucially, the team has secured a historic qualification for the 2027 World Championship in Poland. This marks the first time Denmark has qualified for the tournament on sporting merit, as their only previous appearance in 1966 was as a replacement. The qualification was achieved through strong performances that improved Denmark's standing on the world rankings, ensuring one of the direct spots available via continental championships.
