Denmark: New football bans and expanded police body camera use

Danish police authorities are implementing new measures regarding public order and documentation. Since new regulations took effect on March 10, 2026, Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi has issued football stadium bans to 16 spectators, totaling 36 years of bans. Under the updated law, repeat offenders within a ten-year period can face doubled ban lengths. These restrictions prohibit individuals from entering specific radii around stadiums during matches, including zones for fan marches and local establishments.

Separately, Sydøstjyllands Politi has expanded the use of body-worn cameras to include officers in Kolding and the canine unit, following a pilot in Vejle. This expansion aligns with a broader national movement to gather operational experience. While national guidelines for activation are being updated by Rigspolitiet, officers currently activate cameras based on situational needs for documentation. Recordings without legal significance are deleted after 30 days, and the system does not utilize facial recognition.
