Denmark police warns of fraudsters impersonating officers to steal MitID

Police in South and Southern Jutland have warned that criminals are calling Danish citizens and pretending to be police officers in order to obtain MitID credentials, bank account numbers, payment‑card details and PIN codes. The police stress that neither they nor banks ever request personal information by phone and advise anyone who receives such a call to verify the caller’s identity by calling 114.

The alert comes as a variety of scams have surged in Denmark, including fake SMS messages that appear to be from parking companies such as Apcoa and Q‑Park. These messages create urgency or concern to prompt quick payments. Authorities urge the public to be wary of unsolicited requests for personal data.
