Denmark prepares for flooding as storm surges threaten coasts

Denmark is preparing for significant flooding due to forecasted high water levels and heavy waves. In Tejn on Bornholm, the local fire department has deployed a 200-meter 'boxwall' to act as a dam, protecting a vulnerable pier currently undergoing renovation. If the barriers fail, authorities have a contingency plan to pump water back into the Baltic Sea.

In the Lolland municipality, residents in areas such as Rødbyhavn are being advised to prepare for water levels rising by up to 120 centimeters. The municipality has made sandbags and gravel available for collection at several locations in Nakskov, Rødby, and Maribo to assist with flood protection.
