Denmark promotes local climate initiatives and green transitions

Local climate initiatives are gaining momentum in Denmark through dedicated funding and institutional events. In Favrskov, the Klima Favrskov fund is now accepting applications to support community-led climate activities. The fund aims to help citizens, associations, and local groups implement ideas such as clothing repair workshops, community meals, or green workshops. Past recipients include the Red Cross Snakbar, which hosted a ‘Visible Mending’ workshop to teach participants how to extend the life of their clothing.

In North Jutland, Regionshospital Nordjylland is hosting a Climate Day to focus on the green transition within the healthcare sector. The event brings together employees and partners to discuss sustainability, innovation, and the hospital’s specific climate action plan. Topics include waste sorting, climate-friendly food using local ingredients, biodiversity, and circular health textiles. Various partners, including Hjørring Municipality and EXPBIO, are participating to share knowledge on reducing carbon footprints and improving sustainable procurement and transport.
