Denmark proposes annual funding for dyslexia knowledge center
Danish Minister for Education Magnus Heunicke has proposed allocating 2.7 million DKK annually from 2027 to 2030 to the National Knowledge Center for Dyslexia and Other Reading Difficulties (NVOL).
The funding is part of the 2027 budget proposal and aims to strengthen knowledge regarding dyslexia and other reading difficulties to improve teaching in schools and educational institutions. The center provides resources such as materials, films, and online courses for teachers and professionals to help prevent and mitigate the impact of these difficulties on education and employment.
Minister Heunicke emphasized that while dyslexia is a condition some must live with, it should not prevent individuals from obtaining an education or participating actively in society. The initiative also seeks to address how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, present both new opportunities and challenges for those with reading difficulties.
