Danish intelligence officials have issued a stark warning regarding an intensification of Russian hybrid warfare against Europe and NATO. Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus and Intelligence Service Chief Thomas Ahrenkiel described the current security environment as the most serious since the end of the Cold War.

The Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) anticipates that Russia will increase the frequency and impact of hybrid attacks in the coming months. These operations may include destructive cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure, such as water supplies and internet services, as well as physical sabotage. The Danish Agency for Public Safety (SAMSIK) has responded by raising the threat level for destructive cyberattacks from medium to high.

Officials noted that Denmark's active role in supplying equipment to the battlefield makes it a specific target for Russian intelligence and sabotage operations. While the FE stated there are no current signs of a full-scale military invasion, they emphasized that such an event can no longer be ruled out, noting it would likely require at least six months of preparation. The intelligence assessment suggests Russia's primary objectives are to undermine NATO unity and disrupt support for Ukraine.
