Denmark regions allocate funds to strengthen healthcare services

Danish regional authorities are allocating significant funds to strengthen healthcare services. Region Østdanmark has announced the allocation of several hundred million kroner to ensure the quality of local health services. Following the health reform, 550 million kroner will be distributed in 2027, increasing to 757 million kroner by 2030. These funds are intended to support new health councils, particularly in Mid- and West Zealand and East Zealand and the Islands, which have lower base grants.

In Region Midtjylland, a new budget agreement includes 5 million kroner for initiatives following a review of prehospital services, including doctor and paramedic readiness. Additionally, 3.8 million kroner will be allocated to prehospital services to address demographic shifts and population growth. The region has also set aside 100 million kroner to manage demographic pressures on hospitals and prehospital services, with 96.2 million kroner directed toward hospitals.
