Two foreign men have been released from custody in Denmark while an investigation continues into charges of espionage. The individuals were charged under Section 108, subsection 1 of the penal code, for allegedly assisting Russian intelligence services by photographing the defense company MyDefence and transmitting the images to a user on Telegram.
North Jutland Police confirmed the release on Friday, stating that while the charges remain, there was no longer sufficient grounds to demand continued detention. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET).
Authorities issued a warning following the incident, advising the public against accepting seemingly innocent photography tasks from unknown individuals on social media or messaging platforms like Telegram. Police noted that such actions could inadvertently assist foreign intelligence services in committing serious crimes.
