Denmark reports significant gap in life quality between youth and elderly

A new study by Realdania reveals that young Danes aged 18 to 29 report a significantly lower quality of life compared to the rest of the population. On a scale of 1 to 10, young people rated their life quality at 6.5, while the adult population averaged 7.51. Denmark currently holds the largest gap between youth and elderly life quality within the EU.

Key findings indicate that many young people hold a pessimistic view of the future, with 69 percent expressing concern regarding war and military conflicts, 47 percent regarding climate change, and 45 percent regarding extremism and terrorism. Conversely, technological development and education are cited as primary sources of hope.

The study also highlights the impact of living arrangements and physical environments. Young people living in shared housing reported a higher life quality (6.97) than those living alone (6.27). Experts suggest that more attention should be paid to how physical surroundings and social housing types influence well-being.
