Denmark road safety groups call for increased youth education

The Road Safety Council and GF Fonden are calling for increased traffic education and the use of personal narratives to improve road safety among young people in Denmark. Data from the Danish Road Directorate indicates a 15% increase in deaths and injuries among teenagers aged 15 to 17 in 2025 compared to previous years, primarily involving cyclists and moped riders.

To combat this trend, the 'Sikker Trafik LIVE' initiative sends individuals who have been seriously injured or bereaved by traffic accidents to schools and youth educational institutions. In the previous school year, approximately 26,000 students across 773 schools received visits from speakers sharing their experiences to encourage safer behavior and highlight the consequences of risky actions such as speeding, distracted driving, or driving under the influence.
