Denmark seeks energy and water management cooperation with Turkey
Denmark is seeking expanded cooperation with Turkey in the sectors of renewable energy, water management, and food production efficiency. Speaking at WindEnergy Hamburg, Andersen highlighted significant opportunities for Danish companies within Turkey’s large energy market and its growing renewable energy sector.
A key area for collaboration is water management. Andersen noted that non-revenue water rates in Denmark are approximately 7%, whereas in Turkey, they can reach up to 40%. He suggested that Turkey could benefit from Danish models where wastewater treatment plants serve not just as infrastructure, but as resource and energy production hubs.
In the food industry, energy efficiency in milk production was identified as a major gap. Andersen stated that producing one liter of milk in Turkey consumes roughly four times more energy than in Denmark. He attributed this to Denmark’s high energy costs, which have forced companies to optimize production processes, allowing for economic growth even as energy consumption decreases.
