Denmark sees surge in parking‑fine phishing scams targeting motorists

A new wave of phishing scams is targeting Danish motorists with fake parking‑fine notices. Recipients receive SMS messages that appear to be from Copenhagen Municipality, containing a link to a look‑alike website where they are asked to enter their licence‑plate number and payment card details. The fraud aims to harvest credit‑card information rather than collect the small fine amounts advertised. Investigations by TjekDet have identified over 100 counterfeit sites and trace technical links to servers operating from China.

Separately, 69‑year‑old Martin Bay Nielsen of Vejrum reported a phone‑call scam in which perpetrators attempted to extract personal data. He has since warned others about such calls, underscoring the broader rise in fraudulent contact methods targeting residents across Denmark.

Authorities, including Copenhagen Municipality, have warned citizens not to click links in suspicious messages or provide payment details without verification, and advise immediate contact with banks if card data may have been compromised.
