Denmark: Fraud warnings issued for MitID and Skattestyrelsen
Authorities in Denmark are warning citizens and businesses about sophisticated phishing scams targeting MitID and the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen).
In one scheme, scammers send fraudulent messages appearing to be from MitID. This is often followed by a phone call from individuals impersonating employees of AL Sydbank to increase the credibility of the scam.
Another widespread tactic involves fraudulent emails from the Skattestyrelsen claiming that recipients are owed a tax refund. These emails urge users to click a link and log in with MitID to steal personal information.
Experts from ‘Mit digitale selvforsvar’ advise the public not to click on links in suspicious messages and to delete them immediately. Instead, individuals should verify any tax or banking matters through official, established contact channels.
