Denmark to hold hearing on parking fine regulations

A hearing regarding parking regulations and fine amounts is scheduled to take place at Christiansborg on September 3. The hearing is initiated by the citizen movement FairParkeringer, in collaboration with Member of Parliament Thomas Klimek (S).

FairParkeringer has collected over 50,000 signatures for a citizen proposal, which will subsequently be processed by the Folketinget. The movement represents citizens who express frustration over what they describe as unreasonable parking fines and unclear regulations.

Thomas Klimek noted that many citizens report fines of up to 1,000 DKK, which he considers disproportionate. He highlighted difficulties citizens face when attempting to communicate with private parking companies regarding disputes or collection notices. The hearing aims to provide politicians with an informed basis to evaluate potential legislative measures regarding the fairness and proportionality of these fees.
