Denmark to increase state pension rates in 2027

More than one million Danish pensioners are set to receive higher public benefits starting in 2027. The Ministry of Finance has announced a rate regulation percentage of 2.6 percent for 2027, supplemented by an additional 0.3 percentage points following the abolition of certain fund allocations.

For single pensioners receiving the full supplement, the maximum state pension will reach 200,940 kroner annually before tax, which averages approximately 16,745 kroner per month. An additional elderly check of up to 26,900 kroner may also be available depending on eligibility.

According to senior economist Mads Moberg Reumert of Danica Pension, state pensions have increased by more than 32,000 kroner over the last five years, representing a rise of nearly 20 percent. This adjustment is intended to assist pensioners facing rising costs, particularly those unable to increase their income through employment. The regulation is based on private sector wage developments, though the system operates with a two-year lag.
