Denmark to mandate direct sharing of asbestos test results
Denmark's Ministry of Employment and Equality has announced new regulations to prevent fraud regarding asbestos test results. Starting January 1, 2027, employers will be legally required to ensure that employees or work environment organizations receive asbestos analysis results directly from the testing company.
Additionally, developers must ensure that asbestos results are accessible on construction sites through the Safety and Health Plan (PSS). These changes aim to prevent the falsification of safety data, such as through the use of QR codes or secure logins to verify authenticity.
The legislative move follows a specific incident in Aalborg, where a construction consultant was convicted of altering an asbestos test result from positive to negative. This fraud left nearly 200 workers unknowingly exposed to asbestos fibers, which can cause fatal mesothelioma.
