Denmark tourism hits record high with 26 million overnight stays
Denmark is experiencing a significant surge in tourism, recording a record-breaking 26 million overnight stays in the first half of 2026. This represents an increase from the 25.5 million recorded during the same period in 2025.
German travelers remain the largest group of international visitors, accounting for more than 7.5 million overnight stays. Data indicates a growing interest from other regions as well, including Norway, Sweden, and the United States. A 12 percent increase in German bookings for July has been attributed to earlier summer holidays in several German federal states.
In the business sector, Bella Group reports stable demand and high order volumes in the international congress market, noting that while global uncertainty causes some delays in decision-making, it has not diminished overall activity. Copenhagen has also seen its international ranking as a congress city rise from 13th to 7th place.
