Denmark: Venstre party hits historic low as Ikast-Brande council approves golf club dispensations

In Denmark, the Venstre political party has reached a historic low in recent polling. A Voxmeter measurement for Ritzau shows the party at 7.1 percent, its lowest result since 2001. This decline follows a period of internal unrest, including party members voting against the party line on fertilization laws and criticism from other political leaders regarding leadership.

Separately, in Ikast-Brande, the city council voted 13 to 9 to grant dispensations regarding the Ikast Golf Klub. The club's owner, Jens Poulsen, had faced significant criticism and legal challenges concerning the development of the course on a protected glacial hill. Poulsen argued that the municipal administration had made factual errors, while Mayor Ib Lauritsen defended the staff, noting that the council ultimately holds responsibility for its decisions.
