Scandinavia weather alert: Heavy rain and snow expected
A significant weather shift is approaching Scandinavia, bringing heavy rain, wind, and potential snow. In Denmark, DMI reports a warm front moving in from the south, bringing mild temperatures up to 18 degrees in some areas, followed by a new front system arriving overnight. This system is expected to bring widespread rain, with 5 to 15 mm expected in most areas, and potentially higher amounts in North Jutland and Zealand. Winds are expected to increase to near gale force along the coasts.
In Norway, heavy rainfall is forecasted for Eastern Norway, particularly in Østfold, where amounts could reach 30-40 mm. Cold air masses are also moving in, leading to a significant temperature drop. In response to changing conditions, Statens vegvesen is urging motorists to check their winter tires before snow arrives, noting that weather and road conditions should dictate the changeover rather than a specific date.
Additionally, colder air moving over Europe may bring snow to parts of Scandinavia, with forecasts suggesting up to 20 centimeters of snow in certain mountainous regions of Norway and Sweden.
