Denmark wins European road‑safety award as new survey reveals widespread driver anger

Denmark was awarded the European Transport Safety Council’s annual traffic‑safety prize for its long‑term efforts to reduce road fatalities, receiving the accolade on behalf of the Council by director Jakob Bøving Arendt. The honor comes despite Sweden and Norway posting lower traffic‑death rates per capita.

A recent study commissioned by the Danish Road Safety Council and GF Fonden found that one in four Danes have shouted at other road users in the past year, and almost as many admit doing the same themselves. The survey links such “road rage” to poorer driving decisions and increased safety risks, urging calmer behaviour to improve overall traffic safety.
