Denmark's East Denmark Region considers ban on fossil fuel and aviation ads
Politicians in the upcoming East Denmark Region are proposing a ban on advertisements for the aviation and fossil fuel industries on Movia buses. The proposal, discussed in the Preparatory Business Committee, argues that such advertisements conflict with the region's goals regarding green transition, public health, and health equality.
Bruno Jerup, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Regional Development, stated that it is contradictory for the region to promote green initiatives while allowing public transport to advertise industries that move in the opposite direction. He expressed hope that removing these ads could help reduce demand for such products, similar to existing restrictions on tobacco, alcohol, and gambling advertisements.
The proposal is set to be put to a vote in the Regional Council. Movia has declined to comment on the matter until a formal request is received from the region.
